St. Xavier College, Jalukie was established in 2005 by the Diocese of Kohima. It is located at Jalukie, 57 kilometres outside Dimapur City, in Peren District of Nagaland. The college was inaugurated by His Excellency Shri. Shyamal Dutta, the then Governor of Nagaland, on 17th May 2005.The College is permanently affiliated to Nagaland University. It is included in the list of Colleges under Section 2(f) & 12 (B) of the UGC Act, 1956. The College caters to students from all quarters of life. They represent different tribes, religions and regions. The College is a non-profitable charitable society, registered under Government of India.
The college aims to facilitate and increase the educational and developmental opportunities especially for Naga tribal students. The educational advancement is a long way to go in the region. The outstanding feature is that St. Xavier College is the premier institute of higher education in the region.
The College is advancing in providing resources and infrastructure. Information technology, library, playgrounds, etc. are a few among the many attached facilities. The College has separate lodging for women and men. Extracurricular and co-curricular activities offer opportunities for students to develop their talents and leadership skills. In recent years, St. Xavier has provided and encouraged students and faculty to avail opportunities that can enrich and expand their education experiences with wider and global perspectives through national exposure programs. The tribal culture and traditions are unique assets of the students and the region, which is a pathway for the student’s progress.
